Babylon under King Nebuchadnezzar II was one of the greatest cities of the ancient world. Glazed bricks depicting Marduk’s dragon and Adad’s bull decorate the monumental arcuated Ishtar Gate.

Washington Post FALL ARTS GUIDE (by Tatsuro Kiuchi)

リフレクティング・プールのリニューアルに合わせて、ワシントンの秋の芸術関連のイベントガイド表紙を描きました。リフレクティング・プールの映り込みとしてアートのアイコン的なものを表現して欲しいと言われて知恵を絞ったものです。アートが、音楽とか美術とか特定の一分野だけでなく、すべての分野に渡るため、そこをどうやって絵にしたものかと悩みました。思い切って黒を多用したのですが、それでも全くオーケーなところがアメリカらしい。日本だったら難しかったかもしれません。
